Dallas Stars 6, North Jersey Avalanche 4

Lincoln Hatten’s unassisted goal with less than 3 minutes remaining snapped a 4-4 tie to help the Dallas Stars Elite even their tournament record at 1-1. Ryan O’Reilly led the Stars’ attack with a pair of goals, including an empty netter. Griffin Sugasawara added a goal and an assist. The Avalanche were led by Teth Burles’ two goals, and Matthew Cameron and Cole Kodsi also tallied in a losing effort.

Omaha AAA 4, Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 1

Sam Renlund potted a pair of third-period goals as the Omaha offensive machine rolled into the semifinals. Jordan Randall and Logan Will added goals, and Kohl Reddy was perfect between the pipes for Omaha until Zach Vlacich found the back of the net at the 6:46 mark of the third period.

Detroit-Honeybaked 3, Culver Academy Eagles 2, OT

Matt Shankin’s overtime goal put a dagger in Culver Academy’s comeback bid and set up a Saturday showdown with Chicago Mission for a spot in the semifinals. Kristof Papp potted a pair of first-period goals to stake Honeybaked to an early lead before Culver began to claw back in the final frame on goals from Connor Caponi and Declan Carlile. After surrendering a pair of early goals, Culver’s goaltender Caron Polish shut down the Honeybaked attack until Shankin’s overtime heroics.

Detroit-Compuware 6, Central Connecticut Capitals Selects 5

Arthur Kaliyev and Logan Pietila scored two goals apiece as Compuware rallied to punch their ticket to the semifinals. Jake Veilleux and Kyle Haskins each had a goal and an assist to pace the CCYHA Selects.

Chicago Mission 6, Westchester Express/NY Apple Core 2

The Chicago Mission jumped out to a 3-0 lead and cruised to a 6-2 victory to stay perfect in preliminary round play. Mattew De St.phalle paced the offensive attack with a three-point effort (2 goals, 1 assist), and Dylan Dent and Alexander Vlasic each added a goal and an assist. The Mission defense held the Express to 15 shots to make life easy for goaltender Jacob Lefton. Sammy Steel paced the Express efforts with a goal and an assist.

Shattuck-St. Mary’s 6, Cape Cod Whalers 2

Shattuck-St. Mary’s stormed out of the gates with a pair of first-period goals to set up a showdown against the Colorado Thunderbirds with a spot in the semifinals hanging in the balance. Brendan Brisson paced Shattuck with a pair goals, and McKade Webster added a goal and an assist for the powerhouse prep program. PJ Garrett and Kevin MacKay provided the offense for Cape Cod.

Colorado Thunderbirds 4, Tampa Scorpions 3

Ty Smilanic and Lucas Sandoval scored second-period goals to snap an early 1-1 tie, and Cal Sandquist help shut the door on a furious Scorpions rally to keep the Thunderbirds’ semifinal hopes alive. Brady Berlin of the Thunderbirds and the Scorpions Carson LaPort traded first-period goals before Colorado took control in the second. Peter Morgan and Tyler Lyewski helped the Scorpions get close, but AJ Hodges’ goal thwarted any chance of a comeback.
