Brophy Hockey proudly represents Brophy College Preparatory, a Jesuit high school that emphasizes community outreach and service.  For the past three years, as their main community service project, Brophy Hockey players have hosted a Christmas skating party for the 6th grade class at Brophy’s Loyola Academy.  The Loyola Academy is a school for 6th, 7th and 8th grade boys who demonstrate academic promise but have had limited educational opportunities.  The skating party allows Brophy Hockey players to showcase their unique talents and introduce most of the 6th-graders to their first-ever skating experience.  The December 2013 party included a learn-to-skate session, an inter-squad scrimmage, sandwiches and goodies, and presents for the 6th-graders.  We even had a visit from Howler, the Phoenix Coyotes mascot.  By all accounts, the party was a huge hit. The smiles on the 6th-graders’ faces said it all!
