The Quakers reached the championship series by beating the Montclair Blues in a pair of 5-1 games a week earlier behind a pair of big finishes.
Quakers coach Brian Cleary said his team has appeared to be “energized” by the ice cut between the second and third periods in the playoffs.
“Both games with the Blues were tight into the third, but then we opened it up,” Cleary said. “Even though we’re a short bench, we continued to do that [in the final].”
Princeton allowed just one goal in the series, sweeping the New Jersey Colonials, 2-0 and 3-1.
Special teams produced all the scoring in game one.
Julie Patterson scored a goal on the power play, on an assist from Kat Horsley, midway through the first period. Cassie Campbell added an unassisted, short-handed goal midway through the second.
Kristin Weiland made 17 saves.
The Colonials took a 1-0 lead in the first period in game two, but Weiland, who made 28 saves total, stopped all 22 shots she faced over the last two periods.
Campbell, who had the game-winner at 2:19 of the second period, and Patterson, who scored unassisted, each had goals for the second straight game.
Sabrina Madsen had two assists.
Princeton took a shutout into the final three minutes of both games while sweeping the Montclair Blues with a pair of 4-1 wins in the championship series.
